Zebra

A Zcash full node written in Rust, maintained by the Zcash Foundation. It is the node the zcashd end-of-life notice points operators to.

Zebra describes itself as "a Zcash full node written in Rust," and its documentation is maintained by the Zcash Foundation. Like any full node it downloads the whole chain and checks every block and transaction itself.

zcashd, the original node software, reached its final end-of-support halt on July 18, 2026, at block 3,417,100. Its end-of-life page tells operators who do not need the zcashd wallet to move to Zebra. Zebra's own documentation lists its uses: a backend for lightwalletd, a backend for a mining pool, and HTTP health endpoints.

Zebra is not a wallet. Zakura is a second node implementation named in the zcashd repository.
