Known limitations

• –Ironwood-only: Sapling and Orchard shielded balances are not displayed or spendable through the new Ledger Wallet integration, even though Ledger's device-app source shows those pools were supported by earlier app versions — see the legacy-app note below
• –Desktop only — Ledger's support content explicitly states this is not compatible with Ledger Wallet mobile
• –The separate, Zondax-built "Zcash Shielded" app (the prior route to any Ledger shielded ZEC) is being removed from Ledger Wallet's app catalog on 2026-11-05. It uses a different account-derivation path than Ledger's own new app, so the new app cannot see funds held under the old one — anyone with balances there (including Sapling-pool ZEC) needs to transfer them to an account created with Ledger's own Zcash app before that date to keep them reachable through Ledger's official tooling. The underlying recovery phrase itself isn't deleted or changed by the app's removal, but recovering old-app funds afterwards would mean restoring that same phrase into another wallet that understands its specific derivation, not simply reopening Ledger Wallet.
• –Device rollout is not fully consistent across sources: Ledger's own coverage names the Ledger Nano S Plus, Ledger Stax and Ledger Flex as supported at launch, and Ledger Nano X and newer entry-level devices as not yet enabled for the shielded flow specifically (one report attributes this to a Nano X performance/timeout issue Ledger and the app's original developer are still working on) — yet Ledger's own app-zcash GitHub repository shows a compiled Zcash app build for the Nano X (and for a device tagged "Apex") dated the same day as the other supported devices. The Ledger Nano S is confirmed unsupported by every source checked, with no conflicting signal.
• –Exact ZCG milestone sign-off/payment status for Grant #152 was not confirmed as formally closed in the grant tracker at the time of this review — the feature's public availability is confirmed independently via Ledger's own blog post regardless of the grant's internal bookkeeping status
