Zcash Network Upgrade 7 (NU7) is set to activate on mainnet around November 5 at block 3,543,405, reducing block time to 25 seconds. Key infrastructure including Zebra 7.0.0, Zeeder 1.8.0, and the zcashd-compat sidecar are ready for the upgrade.

Zcash Network Upgrade 7 (NU7) is scheduled to activate on mainnet around November 5 at block 3,543,405. The upgrade will reduce block confirmation time to 25 seconds, approximately three times faster than the current rate.
The Zcash Foundation has confirmed that key infrastructure is ready for activation: Zebra 7.0.0 includes NU7 support, Zeeder 1.8.0 supports the new protocol version, and the zcashd-compat sidecar has been updated for compatibility.
Node operators are advised to update to NU7-ready software before the activation block is reached. Regular wallet users should ensure their wallet software is updated and can otherwise let the network transition proceed automatically.
