Zcash's NU7 network upgrade is scheduled to activate around November 5–6, at block height 3,543,405, according to an announcement from @ZecZcash.
The upgrade implements ZIP 259 and introduces two primary changes. Block time will decrease from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, which will speed up transaction confirmations. To maintain the same daily ZEC issuance rate, the block reward will be divided by three. Because blocks will be produced three times as frequently, the halving schedule will shift to a new block height.
Node operators must upgrade to Zebra 7.0.0 (released October 22) or later before activation. Nodes running older versions will be unable to remain on the network once NU7 activates. Wallet users do not need to take action beyond keeping their wallet software up to date.
