ZecZcash⚡ ZCASH INFRASTRUCTURE IS GETTING SIMPLER
The Zcash Foundation has revealed an important new capability for Zebra, its independent Rust-based Zcash node implementation.
🔗 Zebra can now serve light wallets directly — without requiring a separate lightwalletd server in between.
Until now, light wallets typically relied on an additional infrastructure layer to communicate efficiently with the Zcash network.
Removing that dependency could mean:
⚡ Simpler Zcash infrastructure
🛠 Fewer components for operators to maintain
🔗 More direct interaction between wallets and Zebra nodes
🌐 A cleaner foundation for future wallet infrastructure
The development comes as part of the Foundation's latest engineering work following the activation of NU6.3 “Ironwood” on mainnet.
At the same time, Zebra 6.3.0 has been released as a recommended security update, resolving four security advisories related to block synchronization and peer scoring.
Zcash development isn't slowing down after Ironwood.
The infrastructure underneath private money continues to evolve.
