THORChain Prepares Infrastructure for Zcash Integration
THORChain nodes are beginning preparation work for upcoming ZEC integration, with node operators now able to scan the Zcash blockchain and report results to the network. Full activation is planned for a future node churn event once health checks and synchronization are confirmed.

THORChain nodes are now preparing for ZEC integration by running their own Zcash full nodes. Node operators can begin scanning the Zcash blockchain and reporting the results back to the THORChain network, a foundational step to ensure the infrastructure is ready before activation.
According to THORChain, this preparation phase is necessary to verify that the blockchain scanners are healthy and properly synchronized with the Zcash network. Once that validation is complete, ZEC can be activated during a future node churn event.
The integration would enable native cross-chain swaps of Zcash through THORChain without requiring wrapped ZEC. However, ZEC is not yet live on THORChain — the current work is focused on infrastructure readiness only.
