How much ZEC is actually shielded — and where is it held?
Our new Zcash Shielded Supply tool is now live on ZecZcash.com.
It tracks the real on-chain balances across Zcash’s shielded value pools:

You can see:
• Total ZEC currently held in shielded pools
• Shielded share of the total ZEC supply
• The balance of every individual privacy pool
• How the composition of shielded ZEC changes over time

• Transparent and Lockbox supply for context
📊 The important part: these aren't estimates.
The underlying figures come from the Zcash blockchain itself — the protocol-level value-pool totals computed by full nodes.
Our implementation accesses that blockchain data through RPC, verifies each daily snapshot against the chain’s reported total, and only publishes observations that pass the accounting checks.
If a historical day cannot be verified, we don't fill the gap with an estimate or interpolation. It stays a gap.
And despite showing how much ZEC is shielded, the tracker reveals nothing about individual users.
No shielded addresses.
No individual balances.
No senders or receivers.
No private transaction amounts.
It measures the aggregate value held inside the privacy pools — not who owns it.
This gives anyone a simple way to follow one of the most important metrics in the Zcash ecosystem directly from on-chain data.
