Cypherpunk Technologies has issued a warning regarding an unauthorized token using the ZEC ticker on Robinhood Chain.
According to the company, the token is not affiliated with Cypherpunk, despite its official X account apparently being associated with the asset.
Cypherpunk made its position clear:
“It is not ours. Cypherpunk has never issued a token.”
The company emphasized that its exposure to Zcash consists of native ZEC held directly on the Zcash blockchain. Cypherpunk currently reports holdings of approximately 323,394 ZEC, making it one of the most prominent publicly traded corporate holders of Zcash.
Importantly, this warning should not be confused with native ZEC trading through Robinhood Crypto. The issue concerns a separate token deployed on Robinhood Chain using the ZEC ticker and an apparent association with Cypherpunk.
Cypherpunk also reiterated that CYPH, listed on Nasdaq, is its only publicly traded security.
For Zcash users, the message is simple: always verify the network and contract before interacting with assets carrying the ZEC name or ticker. Native ZEC exists on the Zcash blockchain and does not require a token contract.
