🛡️ ZCASH SEEDSIGNER: AIR-GAPPED SIGNING FOR SHIELDED ZEC
A new grant application submitted to Zcash Community Grants proposes “Zcash SeedSigner” — a DIY, open-source and fully air-gapped hardware signer built specifically for shielded ZEC.
The proposed device would use inexpensive off-the-shelf hardware, including a Raspberry Pi Zero, display and camera, while communicating through QR codes.
The goal: keep private keys completely offline while signing shielded Zcash transactions.

The proposal requests $65,000 in funding, including $15,000 for an external security audit.
Importantly, this is currently a grant application — not an approved ZCG project or finished consumer product.
If successful, Zcash SeedSigner could provide privacy-focused ZEC holders with another powerful option for secure offline self-custody.
