A new community project called Recoverify aims to solve one of crypto’s most uncomfortable questions:

Instead of discovering a problem after losing your device, Recoverify is designed to let Zcash users test their recovery setup before disaster strikes.
🔹 Verifies whether your recovery material can reproduce the expected wallet state
🔹 Covers Transparent, Sapling & Orchard pools
🔹 Can help detect discovery/scanning issues and missing recovery data
🔹 Designed for local processing — seed phrases and spending keys are not sent to Recoverify servers
🔹 Built around established Zcash libraries and ZIP-32
The project is currently a Zcash Community Grants proposal, requesting $2,990 for an 8-week development period — so this is not yet a finished or officially launched Zcash feature.
For self-custody, verifying a backup before you need it could be far more valuable than simply assuming it works.
