Ledger Is Bringing Zcash Ironwood Support to Hardware Wallets

Zcash Labs has announced a new funding agreement with Ledger to bring the latest Zcash Ironwood shielded pool to Ledger hardware devices.

Under the agreement, Zcash Labs is committing $80,000 to fund the additional engineering work required to adapt Ledger’s existing Zcash integration from Orchard to Ironwood.

Once completed, ZEC holders will be able to self-custody Zcash in the Ironwood pool using their Ledger devices — combining hardware-wallet security with Zcash’s latest shielded infrastructure.

The agreement is separate from Grant #152 and specifically covers the additional development work created by the transition to Ironwood.

Another important step toward making private ZEC storage more accessible through mainstream hardware wallets.
