IS YOUR ZEC STILL IN THE OLD ORCHARD POOL?

Zcash’s transition from Orchard to Ironwood is well underway — but not every ZEC has made the move yet.

Ironwood went live on July 28 as Zcash’s new shielded pool, following the discovery of a vulnerability in Orchard’s zero-knowledge circuit.

🔒 WHAT CHANGED?
Orchard is now permanently closed to new incoming funds.

ZEC already held in Orchard remains accessible, but those funds must leave through the migration “turnstile” — either into the new Ironwood pool or to a transparent address.

Your Zcash address itself does not need to change. Ironwood reuses existing Orchard receivers, meaning compatible wallets can handle the transition without requiring a new address.

🔍 HOW DO I KNOW WHICH POOL MY ZEC IS IN?

First, make sure you are running the latest version of your Zcash wallet.

Depending on the wallet, you may be able to see whether your shielded balance is held in Orchard or Ironwood directly in the wallet interface or balance details.

If your wallet supports Ironwood and has already completed the migration, your funds should be in the new shielded pool. Some wallets handle this process automatically, while others may require user action.

If you are unsure, check your wallet provider’s latest Ironwood migration instructions before moving any funds.

🛡️ WHY IRONWOOD MATTERS
Ironwood was introduced to restore stronger assurances around Zcash’s shielded supply.

Its migration mechanism also allows the network to progressively verify that the ZEC supply remains consistent with Zcash’s 21 million coin limit.

📱 WHAT SHOULD USERS DO?
Update your wallet and confirm that it supports Ironwood.

If you still have an Orchard balance, follow your wallet provider’s migration procedure. Your ZEC has not disappeared — Orchard is withdrawal-only and funds can still be moved out.

Never share your seed phrase or private keys with anyone offering to “help” with migration.

Ironwood is now the future of shielded Zcash.
