⛏️ ZCASH MINING REVENUE OUTPACES BITCOIN
New data from Grayscale Research shows that Zcash mining is becoming increasingly competitive on a per-machine and energy-efficiency basis.
According to Grayscale Research Director Zach Pandl:
• A typical Zcash mining machine currently generates roughly 2× the daily mining revenue of a comparable Bitcoin machine.
• Measured against electricity consumption, Zcash produces around 4× the mining revenue per megawatt-hour compared with Bitcoin.
Bitcoin still dominates in absolute scale. Its miners collectively generate approximately $35 million per day, compared with roughly $2 million per day across the Zcash network.
But the efficiency picture looks very different.
Driven largely by ZEC’s strong price performance, total Zcash mining activity has increased by more than 2.5× in 2026, attracting additional computing power to the network.
More mining activity can strengthen network security — although increasing competition and mining difficulty may also reduce individual miner returns over time.
One important distinction: these figures measure mining revenue, not guaranteed profit. Actual profitability depends on hardware costs, electricity prices, pool fees and network difficulty.
